Khandwa, Nov 18 (NationPress) In a historic first for the Khandwa district, a patient was airlifted to a different city for specialized medical treatment under the PM Shri Air Ambulance Scheme.
This marks a pivotal achievement in enhancing emergency healthcare accessibility for the area.
On Tuesday, a 73-year-old woman named Tarabai, residing in Shahpur, was transported from Khandwa District Hospital to Indore via air ambulance after her condition necessitated expert medical attention.
Tarabai, married to Balaram, was admitted to the Female Medical Ward with severe spinal cord complications.
This condition had led to a loss of mobility in both her legs, prompting healthcare professionals to recommend urgent transfer to a more advanced medical facility.
Given the time-sensitive nature of the situation and the patient's inability to endure lengthy road travel, officials initiated the PM Shri Air Ambulance Scheme to guarantee prompt and secure transit.
Tarabai was relocated from Khandwa District Hospital to the Nagchun Airstrip, where an air ambulance was on standby. She was subsequently airlifted to Indore for further evaluation and specialized treatment.
Medical staff emphasized that the scheme was vital in conserving precious time and preventing further decline in the patient’s health.
The successful airlift has also provided much-needed relief and hope to Tarabai’s family, who expressed their gratitude toward the district administration and healthcare team for their swift action.
Dr. Aniruddh Kaushal, Civil Surgeon of Khandwa, stated, “This is the inaugural case where a patient from Khandwa has been referred to Indore via an air ambulance. The PM Shri Air Ambulance Scheme has enabled immediate and secure medical transport in critical situations. We are optimistic that such services will continue to assist patients in rural regions.”
The event has garnered widespread acclaim as a proactive step in improving the healthcare framework of the district. With this successful operation, officials anticipate that more patients requiring urgent care will benefit from air medical services in the future.
