Revitalizing Congress from the Ground Up: Kharge Commits to Combat BJP-RSS's 'Divisive' Politics at DCC Heads' Assembly

New Delhi, April 5 (NationPress) The concluding session of the District Congress Committee (DCC) Presidents' meeting took place on Friday at Indira Bhavan. This important gathering featured Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal, along with other prominent party figures.

The primary focus of the session was on enhancing the party's organisational structure at the grassroots, improving the verification processes for voter lists, and optimizing various operational strategies.

In his introductory remarks, Mallikarjun Kharge underscored the vital function that district presidents perform in disseminating Congress’s principles and initiatives to the public. He emphasized the urgency for ongoing electoral readiness as Congress gears up for the forthcoming Assembly elections.

He articulated, "Congress must persist in its challenge against the anti-people and anti-Constitution ideologies espoused by the BJP-RSS. We must tackle the issues that truly concern the populace." Kharge also referenced the party's resolution to designate 2024-25 as a year dedicated to organisational fortification during the Belagavi convention.

Kharge criticized the Modi administration's focus on communal division rather than public welfare, stating, "The government prioritizes divisive politics over the well-being of the citizens. They evade discussions on critical issues such as inflation, unemployment, and economic decline in Parliament while hastily addressing Manipur under dubious circumstances." He urged district presidents to vigilantly oversee electoral processes and prevent any voter list manipulation.

Following the meeting, KC Venugopal and Pawan Khera, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Department, held a press conference. Venugopal shared insights from the three-phase meetings, which saw participation from a total of 862 DCC Presidents. Moreover, State Congress Presidents, General Secretaries, and In-charges also contributed to the discussions.

"Key discussion points included booth management, voter list verification, fortifying ideological training, media and social media strategies, and optimizing the management of party resources," Venugopal detailed.

He also announced the upcoming Congress session in Ahmedabad, set to occur on April 8-9, 2025. "The session's theme will be 'Nyaypath: Sankalp, Samarpan, and Sangharsh.' This significant event will unfold along the banks of the Sabarmati River," Venugopal added. The timing coincides with the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's election as Congress President and the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, both of whom played pivotal roles in India's independence.

On April 8, the Extended Congress Working Committee will gather at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial, while the All India Congress Committee (AICC) session will convene on April 9, with approximately 1,725 AICC members, MPs, ministers, and senior leaders in attendance.

KC Venugopal emphasized the historic significance of this meeting, stating, "This marks the first instance in 20 years of such extensive and direct engagement between the DCC presidents and the party's leadership. We are establishing a regular communication system with DCC presidents, which will further strengthen our organisation." He noted that the district presidents displayed motivation and enthusiasm, and the meeting proved to be extremely fruitful.
