Bhopal, Feb 25 (NationPress) Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, reaffirmed the Union government's steadfast support for prospective investors. He underscored the critical role of urban mobility, stating that enhanced mobility leads to easier access to residential amenities and boosts the attractiveness of urban areas.
During his address on the final day of the Madhya Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2025, Khattar pointed out the extensive potential of Madhya Pradesh, emphasizing that the state's increasing population demands a commitment to creating sustainable living spaces. He recognized the hurdles in urban development, which often present numerous challenges.
“Madhya Pradesh is full of potential, and given its population, we need to prioritize sustainable living environments. In addition to housing, urban mobility plays a crucial role — improved mobility provides easier access to residential facilities and makes cities more appealing. Expanding the metro networks in Bhopal and Indore is essential, and we are dedicated to addressing mobility needs as they develop,” Khattar stated.
The minister praised Gurugram as a model of urban development and confirmed that he has consistently considered suggestions from both government and citizens when they pertain to public welfare and growth.
“Now entrusted with urban development at the national level, I assure you that any proposals or concerns regarding new policies will be given the necessary attention. You are aware of the public's needs, and whatever you propose, we will diligently work to fulfill,” he asserted.
Khattar noted that Madhya Pradesh has significant potential and commended the state for its swift adoption of Central government initiatives. He assured that there would be a streamlined, single-window clearance process for necessary approvals from the state.
The Union Minister also commented on the rampant illegal encroachments in Delhi, attributing them to the city's stagnation in development, and promised to rejuvenate the Capital within the next two years.
He highlighted the remarkable growth experienced during his decade-long tenure as Chief Minister of Haryana, contrasting it sharply with Delhi, which he criticized for its slow progress.
He explained that the limited land availability and pervasive illegal encroachments in Delhi have severely restricted urban expansion, compounded by various policy and political challenges.
Khattar emphasized that his administration has implemented innovative policies and made nearly thirty amendments to existing regulations. Now, in his role at the Centre, he pledged that all suggestions would be taken into account and acted upon.
The Union Minister reiterated that the constraints of limited land and widespread illegal encroachments in Delhi have impeded urban growth, exacerbated by policy and political hurdles.
“In the last 10-12 years, we have transformed Gurugram, while Delhi has remained stagnant. Illegal colonies have multiplied, and unauthorized encroachments are everywhere. Thankfully, the political climate has improved. From this platform, I announce that within the next two years, we will reform all necessary policies and comprehensively tackle Delhi’s urban development challenges,” the Minister concluded.
