What has been finished — and what is still under way

The update lists a crisp set of completed milestones: platform improvements on Platforms 1, 2 and 3, a new toilet block structure, lifts added to the existing foot-over bridge (FOB), and additional civil works under the Change of Plan (COP) category. The girder launching for the new 12-metre FOB is also done, with deck sheeting, casting and roof sheeting now under way.

Still in progress: the station building façade, parking shed and circulating area works, alongside the electrical works for the newly installed lifts. In other words, the bones are largely set — the finishing is catching up.

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, announced in 2023, targets the redevelopment of 1,275 railway stations across India, prioritising modern amenities, accessibility features, and capacity upgrades. Telangana has several stations in the pipeline under the scheme, and Shadnagar is among the earlier ones to report visible on-ground progress.

Kishan Reddy framed the works in explicitly political terms, linking the redevelopment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'a modern, connected and passenger-friendly India.' As BJP's Telangana state president, the minister has a direct interest in demonstrating that central government investment is tangibly reaching the state — and a station update with photographs is the most concrete proof available.

When the façade, parking shed and lift electrification are done, Shadnagar will be the clearest local test of whether Amrit Bharat's promise translates into the kind of station experience that actually changes how a commuter feels about boarding a train.
