Thiruvananthapuram, April 26 (NationPress) Almost two weeks after the Kerala High Court mandated a CBI investigation into allegations against K.M. Abraham, initiated by activist Joemon Puthenpurackal after a prolonged decade-long legal struggle, the central investigative agency has finally initiated a case against him.

At the age of 66, Abraham serves as the Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, having previously held the position of Chief Secretary and currently overseeing the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).

The High Court’s order has sparked widespread speculation — will Abraham meet the same fate as M. Sivasankar, the former Principal Secretary to Vijayan, who faced imprisonment twice: once during his tenure and again shortly after his retirement?

Interestingly, Chief Minister Vijayan has publicly supported Abraham, asserting that he would pursue legal options.

In a surprising twist, Abraham has also reached out to the Chief Minister, requesting an investigation into a supposed conspiracy involving Puthenpurackal and two other individuals.

Not deterred by what he labeled as delay tactics, Puthenpurackal initially sent a warning letter to Vijayan against any potential actions. After a week without CBI progress, he approached the High Court once more. It was only after this that the CBI proceeded to register the case as mandated by the court.

The comparisons to Sivasankar are intensifying. Sivasankar first faced arrest related to the notorious Kerala gold smuggling scandal, accused of assisting the main suspect, Swapna Suresh. He was subsequently arrested again concerning the Life Mission case, which involves alleged corruption in a government housing initiative.

With the CBI case now officially recorded, all attention shifts to Abraham—and to Vijayan, whose own remarks, “no action will be taken against any official based solely on allegations,” may resurface as an issue.

Will Abraham be suspended like Sivasankar once the investigators arrive?

On Saturday, Law Minister P. Rajeeve faced challenges in addressing media inquiries on the matter. “The CM has already stated his position. Let’s wait,” was his only response.
