Kolkata, June 30 (NationPress) Officials investigating the rape of a law college student in Kasba, Kolkata have disclosed that the perpetrator, Monojit Mishra, had meticulously planned the attack. The two accomplices, Jaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukhopadhyay, played significant roles in facilitating this heinous act.
According to sources, both Ahmed and Mukhopadhyay confessed that recording the assault was a deliberate strategy meant to blackmail the victim, preventing her from reporting the incident to the authorities or disclosing it to anyone.
These premeditated actions were thwarted by the bravery of the victim, who, rather than succumbing to the ordeal, promptly went to the nearest police station to file a report.
Authorities are currently investigating whether the recorded video has been shared with others.
“Multiple inappropriate videos were found on the mobile devices of the trio, particularly on Mishra’s phone, indicating their inclination towards such content,” revealed sources.
In a similar case last August, several explicit clips were retrieved from the mobile of Sanjay Roy, the sole convict in the R.G. Kar rape and murder case, who has since been sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in Kolkata.
Meanwhile, four members of the BJP fact-finding team arrived in Kolkata on Monday, expressing concerns that the administration might impede their investigation.
“We aim to meet the victim and her family. However, we are unsure if this will be feasible since the ruling party has consistently opposed our presence in Kolkata to investigate this case. This exemplifies a troubling undemocratic mindset,” commented Satpal Singh, a member of the fact-finding team and a former police officer.
