Bengaluru, Sep 12 (NationPress) The BJP's Karnataka unit has raised concerns over the Congress-led government's categorization of castes within the Christian community. They demand clarification on the existence of various castes among Christians, questioning whether this initiative is meant to promote conversions to Christianity and disrupt the Hindu community.
During a press conference at the BJP State Office, Jagannath Bhavan in Bengaluru, BJP MLC N. Ravikumar challenged the government to clarify the legitimacy of castes such as Kuruba Christian, Lingayat Christian, Maratha Christian, and others, alleging that 47 new castes have been introduced recently.
“Is there a multitude of castes within the Christian community? The government must respond promptly,” Ravikumar emphasized. He accused the administration of attempting to fracture Hindu society and labeled this as a conspiracy to further divide the community.
He humorously remarked that perhaps even the Christians are unaware of these 47 new castes.
Further questioning the government's intent under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, he inquired if the creation of these new castes aimed at facilitating Christian conversions and whether any official notification had been issued.
Criticizing the government, he asserted that it has not distanced itself from such actions and called for immediate clarification from the Chief Minister.
Ravikumar noted that the Chief Minister had announced a survey concerning social, educational, and economic backwardness to be conducted from September 22 to October 7.
Moreover, he expressed concern regarding the potential renaming of Shivajinagar Metro Station to “St. Mary.” He warned that if this occurs, the BJP will initiate significant protests throughout the state.
