Bengaluru, Oct 13 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP unit announced on Monday that the party will organize foot marches ('Padyatra') across all Lok Sabha constituencies to raise awareness and engage with the youth regarding the contributions, life, and principles of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The BJP clarified that this initiative is not politically motivated and encourages the general public to participate.
During a press conference held at the State BJP office, Jagannath Bhavan, State BJP General Secretary Preetham Gowda highlighted the widespread belief that governments have not effectively communicated Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's contributions to the younger generation.
"The Union government will facilitate a 'Unity Walk' aimed at educating youth about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, in alignment with the vision of an informed youth community," Gowda stated.
He mentioned that foot marches will be conducted in every Lok Sabha constituency.
Furthermore, a 'national foot march' is planned as the concluding event.
On October 6, the initiative was launched by Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
The Union government has also decided to organize various competitions.
"An essay competition will be conducted, along with opportunities to create video reels showcasing Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's achievements, which should be uploaded on the 'My Bharat Portal'," Gowda added.
From October 31 to November 25, the public is expected to partake in foot marches covering distances of 8 to 10 km in each Lok Sabha constituency, with participation from Members of Parliament, legislators, and other elected officials.
Additionally, debates and discussions will be organized focusing on Sardar Patel's life and ideals. The aim is to elucidate why Sardar Patel is revered as a 'Man of Steel' in society. He emerged as a leader for farmers and made significant contributions to social life through farmer movements. This initiative will also emphasize his pivotal role in nation-building and fostering social unity," Gowda remarked.
A pledge for promoting indigenous products will be initiated, alongside Swadeshi fairs. Health camps and yoga sessions will also be arranged, with efforts to involve students from colleges and schools. Street plays depicting Sardar Patel's life are planned in areas frequented by youth, such as malls and parks," he continued.
BJP leader Preetham Gowda characterized Sardar Patel as the architect of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a 'Viksit Bharat 2047'.
Numerous programs will be launched to enhance awareness regarding Patel's role in unifying India, he noted.
Five winners from among the youth will earn the chance to participate in the national foot march organized by the BJP.
State BJP Secretary Vinay Bidre and former State BJP Yuva Morcha General Secretary Mallikarjuna Balekayi were also in attendance.
