Mumbai, Oct 13 (NationPress) Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant stated on Monday that the state government is fully committed to supporting entrepreneurs in their quest to become leaders in the industrial sector.
He made these remarks at the event for the presentation of the "Maharashtra State Export Awards 2025" for the years 2022-23 and 2023-24.
Alongside State Industry Secretary P Anbalagan, Minister Samant announced the introduction of 12 new policies designed to enhance the state’s export ratio by tenfold.
These policies include areas such as animation, visual effects, gaming, comics, Global Capability Centre (GCC), bamboo, leather, aerospace, and electronics.
He expressed optimism that these initiatives will offer significant relief to local entrepreneurs.
Minister Samant highlighted that record investments have poured into Maharashtra, propelled by memoranda of understanding signed during foreign trips to places like Davos (Switzerland), Germany, and Japan.
“In the first year, MoUs worth Rs 1.7 lakh crore were signed in Davos, followed by Rs 7 lakh crore in the second year and Rs 16 lakh crore in the third,” he noted, emphasizing that Maharashtra leads the country with an 80 percent implementation rate of these agreements.
He encouraged entrepreneurs to focus on how their accomplishments can create jobs for the people of Maharashtra while accepting their awards.
Minister Samant praised the gems and jewellery sector for launching the state’s first training center in Ratnagiri for the upcoming project in Navi Mumbai, offering a minimum salary of Rs 40,000 to local youth.
“Post-establishment, issues of law and order often arise due to local employment and land acquisition concerns. Entrepreneurs should proactively address these local challenges,” he stated.
He acknowledged the significant contributions of entrepreneurs, noting that 57,000 new entrepreneurs have emerged in the last three years under the Chief Minister's Employment Generation Scheme.
“With the 'red carpet' now laid out for entrepreneurs in Maharashtra, major investments are flocking to the state,” he added.
He expressed appreciation for the entrepreneurs who have provided employment to 1.5 lakh unemployed youth over the past two years.
Additionally, Minister Samant instructed the Industry department to organize workshops aimed at educating entrepreneurs on how to leverage the new policies being developed for industrial growth.
