Bengaluru, Nov 22 (NationPress) The police in Karnataka have initiated an inquiry following the registration of a case concerning electoral fraud amid claims that numerous fake voters were incorporated into the voter list of the Mahadevapura Assembly Constituency in anticipation of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. An FIR was filed to kickstart the investigation, as confirmed by law enforcement on Saturday.
The FIR has been lodged under Section 129 of the Representation of the People Act and includes various sections of the BNS Act. It implicates unnamed individuals, including a political party, officials, and private citizens.
The complaint was submitted by Y. Vinoda, a 39-year-old resident of Nallurhalli in Bengaluru, who accused officials and private actors of fraudulently including fake names on the constituency's voter list.
According to Vinoda, a significant number of fictitious voters were added to the Mahadevapura voter list within the Bengaluru Central Parliamentary Constituency for the upcoming elections, compromising the public mandate.
She further asserted that such widespread fraud could not have occurred without the complicity of particular government officials, members of the political party that allegedly profited from the scheme, and other private individuals.
In her complaint, Vinoda reiterated that a substantial number of fake voters had been added to the Mahadevapura electoral list in connection with the 2024 polls under the Bengaluru Central Parliamentary Constituency, claiming this manipulation undermined the democratic mandate of the electorate.
The police have commenced their investigations and are actively working to identify potential suspects involved in these alleged electoral irregularities.
The FIR was filed by the Whitefield police on November 19. Vinoda serves as the President of the Congress party for the Marathalli Block in Bengaluru. She insists that the details concerning this matter are publicly accessible and asserts that the integrity of the electoral process has been compromised.
On August 8, 2025, in Bengaluru, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, accused the Election Commission of colluding with the BJP to 'steal seats and elections' in India, urging the State government to investigate the alleged 'vote fraud' in the Mahadevapura Assembly constituency and take action against involved officials.
