Did a K'taka Leader Really Threaten a Teacher During SIR Duties?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chikkaballapur (Karnataka), Feb 6 (NationPress) An alarming incident has surfaced from Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur district involving a Congress leader who is accused of threatening a teacher during his responsibilities related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). A recorded audio clip allegedly capturing their exchange has gone viral on social media.
The leader has been named as Nagesh Reddy. In the clip, he is reportedly heard yelling at the teacher, G.S. Shivashankar, accusing him of favoring a political party while executing SIR-related duties.
Shivashankar, a Hindi teacher at the Karnataka Model Primary School, has been designated as a Booth Level Officer (BLO) to facilitate the voter list revision process in Narasimhenahalli and nearby areas.
The audio features Reddy questioning Shivashankar about the regulations he was citing. “Are you even residing in the village? Who grants you the right to do this?” Reddy is claimed to have said. In his defense, Shivashankar explains that he may not live in the village, but he has been officially tasked with the voter list revision.
Using offensive language, Reddy purportedly reprimands the teacher, asserting that he lacks the authority to question or interpret rules. He further accuses Shivashankar of being a BJP supporter and dares him to lodge a complaint against him. The teacher then urges Reddy to control his language.
Additionally, Reddy is allegedly recorded saying, “I know you are a pawn of the BJP. I already face two cases against me. I don’t care if there’s another. I am aware of everything, which is why I am addressing you.”
Sources indicate that Nagesh Reddy is a former student of Shivashankar. Further details about the incident are anticipated.
Authorities have mentioned that no formal complaint has been filed concerning this incident. They indicated that suitable action will be taken if a complaint is received.
It is worth noting that a previous incident involved the alleged assault and humiliation of a BJP female worker by police in Hubballi city, reportedly linked to a dispute over the voter revision process. A video of that incident emerged on January 7, causing widespread outrage and concern.
