Bengaluru, Oct 18 (NationPress) Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced on Saturday that the state administration will conduct discussions with IT and biotechnology firms to address their concerns.
"In the upcoming days, alongside Karnataka's IT and Industries Minister Priyank Kharge, I will hold dedicated meetings with IT and biotech companies to hear their issues. Our actions will respond to critics. We will persist with our duties, undeterred by criticism. We have the blessing of the divine and the public, and we will continue to serve them," Shivakumar stated.
While engaging with the media at Venkayya Eco Park in the K.R. Puram assembly constituency of Bengaluru during the 'Bengaluru Nadige' (Walk in Bengaluru) campaign as part of a 'Dialogue with Citizens', the Deputy Chief Minister responded to queries regarding claims of inadequate development in the city.
"People are entitled to their opinions. However, to guarantee that taxpayer funds are allocated for their development, we have established separate municipal bodies," he noted.
In response to a question about Biocon Chief Kiran Mazumdar Shaw expressing her willingness to develop 10 to 15 roads in Bengaluru, Shivakumar remarked, "I am pleased. She can choose any roads she wishes to improve. She hasn't discussed this with us yet, but we will offer complete support if she approaches us."
Shivakumar emphasized, "The newly formed five municipal bodies will mark a transformative phase in Bengaluru's development. Bengaluru city generates Rs 6,000 crore in tax revenue, with the Bengaluru East Municipal Corporation contributing Rs 1,600 crore. Previously, this tax was distributed across regions, but now, taxes collected in each area will be reinvested there."
Regarding the K.R. Puram area, he noted, "Instances of road encroachment have surged. Some individuals have constructed illegal structures across multiple plots. In the near future, illegally built structures will be removed in accordance with the Supreme Court's directives."
"A temporary exemption has been granted for obtaining occupancy and completion certificates for 30×40 sites. This is only a temporary measure. Moving forward, all must have their building plans sanctioned. Constructing excess floors on small plots or building houses without appropriate setbacks will no longer be permitted," he added.
"This region has been designated as a national highway with flyovers and metro facilities, and a tunnel road will also be constructed. I have walked through this area and engaged with numerous residents. I may not always be correct, but my efforts are genuine. I appreciate the support from local MLAs, former MLAs, former MPs, senior leaders, past corporators, and resident associations. The government and the Bangalore Development Authority are committed to addressing their recommendations and providing solutions," Shivakumar stated.
"Complaints raised during the 'Walk in the Park' will be addressed swiftly. If the enthusiasm of Congress workers has caused any inconvenience, I apologize. I will meet Congress workers separately at a later date. This program is primarily to empower citizens. Those who couldn't voice their concerns today can reach out via the '1533' helpline to submit their issues," he concluded.
"The concerns raised here have been documented by the media. Those who discussed their issues with me have had their complaints and contact details noted. Our team will resolve these matters and follow up with them. We will inform them how their issues were handled. According to the law, we will provide solutions and undertake necessary development projects," Shivakumar affirmed.
