Is Revanth Reddy’s Government Responsible for the Death of a Sanitation Worker?

Hyderabad, Sep 7 (NationPress) BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao expressed profound sorrow regarding the heartbreaking demise of a sanitation worker in Mulugu, who reportedly ingested pesticide after failing to receive his overdue wages for several months. Describing the incident as a “government-sponsored murder,” he called on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister Seethakka to take moral accountability for Maidam Mahesh’s passing. He urged the government to promptly grant an ex gratia payment of Rs 50 lakh to the grieving family and to offer a government position to Mahesh’s widow.

“It is disgraceful that the government has failed to provide even the basic monthly salaries for sanitation workers. This tragedy reflects the government's inability that led Mahesh to take such a drastic step,” stated KTR, as the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader is widely known.

He insisted on public apologies from CM Revanth Reddy and Minister Seethakka for placing workers in such desperate situations.

KTR also criticized the ruling party leaders for disseminating a video that depicted Mahesh’s death as accidental, claiming he mistakenly drank pesticide thinking it was water. “Such propaganda is cruel and solely aimed at obscuring your significant failures and incompetence,” KTR asserted.

This past Sunday, following KTR’s directives, former REDCO Chairman Eruva Satish Reddy, along with BRS leaders, paid a visit to Mahesh’s home in Madhavaraopalli to offer condolences. During this visit, KTR personally communicated with Mahesh’s mother via phone.

Mahesh’s mother shared that her son had not received wages for six months and had struggled to support his wife and four daughters. She claimed that previously, the family lost a child due to insufficient funds for medical care. With tears in her eyes, she recounted how Mahesh, unable to withstand the humiliation of constantly pleading for his dues, consumed pesticide provided by the municipality for cremation services.

Moved by her testimony, KTR pledged complete support from the BRS party and promised financial assistance in the names of Mahesh’s daughters. He assured that the party would assist the family through Satish Reddy within two days.

Mahesh’s niece Jyothi further alleged that certain individuals coerced Mahesh into recording a video before his demise, falsely claiming he had ingested pesticide by accident. She insisted that it was the relentless harassment and non-payment of salaries that compelled him to take such a drastic action.
