Mumbai, June 5 (NationPress) The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) announced on Thursday its successful disbursement of a margin money subsidy totaling Rs 300 crore to 8,794 beneficiaries nationwide, as part of the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).

This distribution corresponds to a sanctioned loan of approximately Rs 884 crore, according to KVIC, an entity operating under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar emphasized that under the visionary direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the PMEGP scheme has established a robust foundation for self-employment across India.

“Khadi and Village Industries transcend mere products; they embody the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. This initiative has not only generated employment for countless youth but has also empowered them to embrace entrepreneurship,” he remarked.

All six regions of the country participated actively in this subsidy distribution initiative.

In total, 2,445 projects were endorsed in the South Zone, covering Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry, with a subsidy allocation of Rs 80.26 crore.

For the Central Zone, a subsidy of Rs 91.13 crore was allocated to 2,366 projects in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand.

The Eastern Zone saw a subsidy of Rs 62.68 crore awarded to 2,167 projects in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as well as Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura in the Northeast.

Furthermore, the Northern region received Rs 41.80 crore for 1,320 projects in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, and Rajasthan.

In the Western region, 496 projects in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa received a subsidy of Rs 24.12 crore.

Since its inception until the financial year 2024-25, the PMEGP has emerged as a cornerstone for entrepreneurship and self-reliance in both rural and urban settings in India.

To date, 10,18,185 micro enterprises have been established under this scheme, with a total sanctioned loan amount of Rs 73,348.39 crore.

In return, a margin money subsidy of Rs 27,166.07 crore has been disbursed to the beneficiaries.

This initiative has directly and indirectly provided employment to over 90,04,541 individuals nationwide, marking it as one of the most effective self-employment schemes in the country.
