New Delhi, July 1 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the significant benefits that enhanced connectivity and rich resources are bringing to the union territory of Ladakh during a recent address. This statement was made following Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s update on X after her official trip to Ladakh, aimed at advancing development initiatives in this remote Himalayan area.
The Prime Minister's Office noted: "Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman shares insights on how improved connectivity and the wealth of resources being allocated to Ladakh are making a positive impact on the Union territory."
According to FM Sitharaman, the Tulku (administrative head) of the Hemis monastery, who hails from a distant village near Chushul town, mentioned that due to better connectivity, travel time to his village has decreased from 6 hours previously to just 2 hours now. This illustrates the widespread advantages that the Union territory of Ladakh is experiencing due to the resources being made available, she stated.
In her reflections on Ladakh, the Finance Minister remarked on the stunning vibrant colors and the pervasive sense of tranquility she encountered.
“Recently, I concluded an official tour to the Union Territory of Ladakh as part of the Government of India's ‘Vibrant Village’ initiative. The mission was to visit the village of Hanle, located at an elevation of 14,700 feet, to better understand the unique challenges faced by residents in this border community. Upon arrival in Ladakh, one cannot help but notice its extraordinary landscape—rugged hills, expansive valleys, and awe-inspiring wilderness,” she elaborated.
During her four-day visit to the union territory, FM Sitharaman inaugurated multiple development projects.

FM Sitharaman also engaged with local UT administration officials. On the second day of her visit, she addressed an audience at a credit outreach program in Leh, where she distributed sanction letters from banks to various beneficiaries under different Central government schemes.
During this credit outreach, loans totaling Rs 5.13 crore were allocated to participants across several schemes, including PM MUDRA, PM Vishwakarma, PMEGP, PM Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme, and Joint Liability Group loans.
