Lalan Prasad from JD(U) Submits Nomination for Bihar MLC By-Election

Patna, Jan 9 (NationPress) Lalan Prasad, the NDA's candidate and a senior leader within the Janata Dal (United), has formally filed his nomination for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Council by-election on Thursday. The nomination was presented at the Bihar Vidhan Mandal amidst the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and notable leaders from the alliance, including Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha.

The by-election has become necessary due to the disqualification of former RJD MLC Sunil Singh, who was closely linked with the Lalu Prasad Yadav family. The now vacant seat has been designated for the JD(U) as part of the NDA coalition.

Originating from Sheikhpura district, Lalan Prasad has been a vital member of the JD(U) since its foundation. Renowned for his enduring partnership with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Prasad has been active in politics since his student years and has played a significant role in the party’s grassroots mobilization strategies.

Being a member of the extremely backward caste, Lalan Prasad's candidacy reflects the JD(U)’s dedication to inclusive representation and enhancing support among backward communities, as stated by the party.

His political career encompasses three terms as a Zila Parishad member, where he gained a reputation as a devoted and community-focused leader. His fidelity to the party, combined with a clean reputation, has established him as a trusted figure within both the JD(U) and the broader NDA alliance.

On Wednesday, the NDA collectively endorsed Lalan Prasad as its candidate for the by-election. This announcement was made by BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal during a joint press conference at the JD(U) headquarters.

Lalan Prasad’s nomination is perceived as a tactical initiative to enhance the NDA’s presence in Bihar, with an emphasis on solidifying support among backward communities. His extensive political background and robust grassroots connections render him a significant contender for the Bihar Legislative Council.
