New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) - On the final day of campaigning for by-elections across 12 MCD wards, Delhi's Chief Minister conducted roadshows at various locations to attract voters. She confidently asserted that the electorate's affection for the BJP will guarantee victories in all 12 constituencies.
In a statement to the press, CM Gupta emphasized that it is the love and support of the voters for the BJP, rather than mere promises, that will propel the party to success on counting day, December 3.
“In Delhi, the trust, blessings, and support from the people towards the BJP is evident at every corner… reflected in the warm gestures of the public,” she stated, just before the voting scheduled for Sunday.
“Our candidates are receiving such tremendous support across all 12 wards that the results will be clear when the voting occurs on November 30 and when the results are declared on December 3,” she added.
The roadshows by CM Gupta traversed areas including Ashok Vihar, Chandni Chowk, and Shalimar Bagh.
During her engagements with voters, the Chief Minister called upon them to fortify the development initiatives initiated by her administration.
“With your collaboration, we can escalate our efforts to transform Shalimar Bagh into an ideal, secure, and developed locality. The BJP's grand victory in all 12 wards of Delhi is assured with the support and blessings of everyone,” she stated.
A total of 53 candidates are contesting for the 12 seats in the upcoming MCD by-elections. The BJP previously held nine of the 12 vacant wards designated for the by-election.
These by-elections are crucial for CM Gupta and the BJP, marking the first political contests in the city since the party regained power after 27 years during the Assembly elections in February.
Analysts suggest that the outcomes of the by-elections in the 12 MCD wards will serve as a referendum on the performance of the Rekha Gupta government over the past nine months and reflect the current political climate in the city.
The need for by-elections arose when councillors from these wards were elected to Parliament and the Delhi Assembly within the last year.
Eleven councillors, including CM Gupta, transitioned to the status of Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs). The Dwarka-B ward has been vacant since last year following the election of the BJP's Kamaljeet Sehrawat as a Member of Parliament from West Delhi.
The vacant wards consist of Mundka, Shalimar Bagh-B, Ashok Vihar, Chandni Chowk, Chandni Mahal, Dwarka B, Dichaon Kalan, Naraina, Sangam Vihar-A, Dakshin Puri (SC), Greater Kailash, and Vinod Nagar.
These wards are part of significant Assembly constituencies such as Mundka, Wazirpur, Matiala, Najafgarh, Rajender Nagar, Deoli, and Patparganj.
