New Delhi, Jan 20 (NationPress) Nitin Nabin has officially taken on the role of BJP’s National President during the organisational event ‘Sangathan Parv’ held at the party headquarters in New Delhi, marking a significant milestone as he becomes the youngest leader to achieve this position. Leaders from various political backgrounds extended their warm wishes to him on Tuesday, celebrating this event as a joyful occasion and expressing optimism that he will lead both the party and the nation to unprecedented heights.

BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo emphasized that this moment holds great significance for millions of BJP members nationwide. He stated, “This is a joyful and proud moment for the countless BJP workers. The BJP, being the largest political party globally, is fundamentally a worker-centric organization where the contributions of its members are paramount. Our leadership selection is not dictated by anyone, in contrast to dynastic parties like Congress, where the power often remains within a single family. The BJP operates through a democratic organizational approach,” he informed IANS.

BJP MLA Harish Khurana also praised Nitin Nabin's ascent within the party. “It is incredibly proud for our party workers to witness one of our own rising from within the ranks. His journey from a booth president to the National President of the largest political party in the country is genuinely inspiring,” he remarked.

Senior BJP leader Kirit Somaiya noted that Nitin Nabin’s youthful vigor will serve the party well. “At just 45, President Nitin Nabin is poised to elevate the Bharatiya Janata Party to new heights. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the way, and through the BJP’s core ideology, he will also play a role in advancing the nation,” he commented.

Expressing his thoughts from outside the BJP, Purnea MP Pappu Yadav shared that the public has high hopes for the new president. “His youth is an asset, and I urge him to prioritize the welfare of the people. We hope he will focus on issues affecting Bihar, particularly ensuring the safety of our daughters. He has earned his reputation from Bihar, and I extend my congratulations. The people expect him to bring about significant development,” he said.

RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari mentioned that while the appointment is a BJP internal affair, it signifies the dawn of a new phase. “Today marks the beginning of a new era with Nabin at the helm. We extend our congratulations and best wishes to him,” he stated.

Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari also congratulated Nabin but noted a critical perspective, stating, “While I congratulate him, it’s clear that the BJP favors selection over election. The era of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani is now a thing of the past. The BJP criticizes Congress, but here too, a selection process has been followed.”

Congress MP Manoj Kumar also conveyed his best wishes, recalling their professional collaboration in Bihar. “During his tenure as a minister, he frequently visited Kaimur district, falling under our parliamentary constituency. We worked together in various district-level meetings. I wish him all the best,” he said to IANS.

He emphasized that people expect Nabin to address crucial issues in Bihar like migration, unemployment, industrial growth, education, and women’s welfare, expressing hope as he embarks on his role as BJP National President.

Nitin Nabin, born on May 23, 1980, in Ranchi, Jharkhand, has emerged as one of the youngest and most energetic figures in Indian politics. At 45, he was unanimously elected as the BJP's national president, succeeding Jagat Prakash Nadda.

This elevation underscores the party’s commitment to generational change, organizational discipline, and grassroots engagement. With 37 nominations from prominent leaders including Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and former Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the transition was smooth and well-received within the BJP.

Coming from a political family, Nitin Nabin is the son of the late Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha, a respected four-time MLA from Patna West and a senior BJP figure in Bihar. His mother was the late Meera Sinha. He belongs to the Chitraguptavanshi Kayastha community.

He completed his education at St Michael’s High School in Patna, passing Class 10 under CBSE in 1996, and continued his studies at CSKM Public School in New Delhi, finishing in 1998.

Nitin Nabin entered electoral politics early, winning a by-election to the Bihar Legislative Assembly from Patna West in 2006 following his father’s passing. After delimitation, he moved to the Bankipur constituency and has represented it without interruption since 2010, securing victories in 2010, 2015, 2020, and 2025, making him a five-time MLA with consistently strong margins.

In successive NDA governments in Bihar, he has held significant cabinet roles, including Road Construction on multiple occasions, Urban Development and Housing, and Law and Justice. His tenure has emphasized infrastructure projects, urban renewal, and welfare measures for journalists, ASHA workers, and other sectors.

Alongside his legislative career, Nitin Nabin has built a strong reputation within the party organization. He served as the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in Bihar and later as its national general secretary. He was appointed to critical in-charge roles in Sikkim and Chhattisgarh, notably leading the party's campaign in the 2023 Chhattisgarh Assembly polls. In December 2025, he was named national working president, paving the way for his ascent to the top organizational position.

Known for his steadfast determination, clear ideology, administrative efficiency, and unwavering loyalty to the party, Nitin Nabin now leads the BJP. With upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, and the 2029 Lok Sabha elections on the horizon, his presidency is anticipated to fortify the party's grassroots machinery, broaden its reach, and align organizational initiatives with the government's development agenda under Prime Minister Modi's leadership.
