New Delhi, Nov 19 (NationPress) The extradition of gangster Anmol Bishnoi, a primary suspect in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, from the US to India has been hailed by political leaders as a significant step forward in combating organized crime.

Anmol, who is the sibling of imprisoned gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, is also implicated in the shooting incident at actor Salman Khan's home in April 2024.

He is anticipated to land in Delhi on Wednesday, accompanied by two other fugitives sought by Punjab authorities.

In response to the extradition, AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang stated to IANS, "Given the increasing incidents involving gangsters in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been dedicated from the outset to resolving this challenge. Our priority is to repatriate all gangsters residing abroad after perpetrating crimes here. We anticipate assistance from the Centre in this endeavor. It is encouraging that Anmol Bishnoi is being returned. Appropriate measures will be executed against him."

Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema shared similar sentiments, asserting, "The gangster will face the law upon his return. He will be apprehended regarding the cases filed against him, thoroughly investigated, and brought before the court for further proceedings."

He emphasized that this represented a major triumph for the Punjab Police, highlighting that a fugitive gangster was finally coming back to confront legal repercussions.

"We are dedicated to liberating Punjab from gangsters. The Congress and BJP have transformed Punjab into a gangland, and today, we are rectifying this by penalizing each gangster," he remarked.

AAP MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa told IANS, "The Indian government is taking action concerning the gangsters, which is a commendable initiative. The Punjab government will ensure that anyone sentenced according to the law will receive their due punishment."

Ladakh Lt. Governor Kavinder Gupta attributed the extradition to the Centre's diplomatic prowess, stating, "This is a testament to the Modi government's foreign policy and India's international relations, which are preventing individuals attempting to instigate unrest in India. The return of Anmol Bishnoi is also a byproduct of this chain of efforts."

JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar added, "Our agencies and foreign policy are sufficiently robust that anyone committing a crime will be held accountable."

According to sources, Anmol fled India in April 2022, utilizing a forged passport, shortly before the tragic shooting of singer Sidhu Moosewala on May 29 of the same year.

It is believed he navigated between the US and Canada using fraudulent Russian documentation until he was located and detained.

NCP leader and former MLA Zeeshan Siddique, son of the late Baba Siddique, confirmed having received an email indicating that Anmol had been "removed" from US territory.

He stated that his family had registered a victim contact status with US agencies, granting them the right to official updates, and urged the Centre to guarantee Anmol's swift arrest upon his arrival.

Siddique mentioned that he had consistently corresponded with US authorities regarding his father's murder and the alleged involvement of the Bishnoi network.

Furthermore, he expressed concerns about his own safety to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Union Minister Devendra Fadnavis, requesting a review in light of recent occurrences.

Baba Siddique, a former Minister of Maharashtra, was assassinated on October 12, 2024, outside his son's office in Bandra. Multiple individuals connected to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were apprehended in relation to this case.
