Forecast: Light Rain in Southern TN as Heat Builds Up
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, April 12 (NationPress) The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai has predicted light rain for certain areas in southern Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, many regions in the state are expected to continue facing dry and increasingly hot weather in the upcoming days.
As per the latest weather update released on Sunday, scattered locations in Kanyakumari and regions along the Western Ghats, along with nearby districts, are likely to experience light rain today. Similar weather patterns are anticipated to carry on over the next few days, with light showers expected in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, and parts of the Western Ghats from April 13 to April 17.
In contrast, the majority of Tamil Nadu, including Puducherry and Karaikal, is projected to see primarily dry conditions during this timeframe.
The department indicated that there would be no significant fluctuations in maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal today. However, a gradual increase of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is expected in some regions over the coming days.
From April 13 to April 15, temperatures are predicted to rise further in isolated areas, with several locations possibly recording temperatures 2 - 3 degrees Celsius above the normal range.
The current weather pattern suggests a consistent intensification of heat, especially in the interior districts.
The weather office has also warned that maximum temperatures in various regions of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry may persist above normal levels today and in the days ahead, leading to discomfort for the local populace.
Coastal areas, in particular, are expected to face elevated humidity levels, exacerbating the oppressive weather conditions.
For Chennai and its surrounding areas, the forecast points to persistent hot and humid weather at least until April 13. The sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, with maximum temperatures likely ranging between 36 degrees and 37 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures may hover around 27 degrees.
Officials are urging residents to take appropriate measures to handle the increasing heat, particularly during the peak daytime hours.
While isolated rainfall may offer temporary relief to southern districts, the broader outlook indicates a continuation of dry and warm conditions across much of the state.
