Amaravati, Sep 9 (NationPress) The Minister for Education and Information Technology in Andhra Pradesh, Nara Lokesh, has reflected on the arrest of his father and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, which occurred two years ago today, expressing that the pain from that moment still persists.
Lokesh took to X to voice his sentiments regarding Naidu's arrest.
He stated that Naidu was wrongfully apprehended. “This incident marked a troubling chapter not just for our family, but for democracy itself. The pain of that moment remains, but so does our determination,” Lokesh wrote.
“His bravery, dignity, and unwavering faith in the people of Andhra Pradesh continue to motivate our struggle for justice and truth,” he added.
“A day that rocked every Telugu person... A day when a dictator, seizing control of systems, filed illegal cases with arrogance and arrested Chandrababu Garu, reveling in demonic joy... But they did not foresee what happens when truth is silenced,” the Telugu Desam Party's official X handle noted.
The party asserted that civil society had risen in outrage against the unlawful arrest of Chandrababu Naidu. Women took to the streets, and youth protested.
“Telugu people in Hyderabad and across 70 nations rallied in support of Chandrababu Naidu. The public protested peacefully against the dictator Jagan. They ensured the victory of truth. They established Chandrababu Garu as the victor in the hearts of the people,” the post proclaimed.
The TDP accused Jagan of orchestrating Naidu's illegal arrest by the AP CID on charges of corruption related to the AP Skill Development Corporation.
Naidu was arrested in Nandyal and spent 53 days in jail. The TDP remarked that public anger wrote the death warrant for Jagan’s rule.
The CID arrested Naidu on September 9, 2023, in connection with the Skill Development scam, allegedly occurring during his tenure as chief minister. The following day, a court in Vijayawada placed him in judicial custody.
He was released from Rajahmundry Central Prison on October 31 after the Andhra Pradesh High Court granted him bail.
Now aged 75, Naidu has denied any wrongdoing throughout his 40-year political career, asserting, “I did not do anything wrong nor did I permit anyone to act incorrectly.”
