New Delhi, June 20 (NationPress) Delivering significant relief and excitement to train travelers in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh, a new Vande Bharat Express train linking Patna to Gorakhpur was launched on Friday.
The high-speed train was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Bihar, representing a critical advancement in the railway infrastructure of the region.
Loco pilot Jayant Kumar Sinha, who will operate the new Vande Bharat Express, expressed his excitement about the service, referring to it as a transformative initiative in India's contemporary rail journey.
“This is a Made in India train, thoroughly outfitted with modern amenities. The likelihood of accidents is virtually non-existent, making it 100 percent safe,” he stated.
“It’s a high-speed train that will start operating at 110 km/h. In the future, its speed is expected to rise to 130-140 km/h. It provides a connection between Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, particularly linking the Champaran and Tirhut regions in Bihar with essential areas of Uttar Pradesh,” he added.
The new train service is anticipated to drastically cut travel time between Patliputra and Gorakhpur by 4 to 5 hours, allowing travelers to cover long distances more comfortably and efficiently. The train will pass through Muzaffarpur and Bettiah, enhancing connectivity for northern Bihar and neighboring regions of Uttar Pradesh.
Jayant Kumar Sinha further characterized the train as a representation of technological progress and public convenience: “This train is not merely a new transport option; it marks the commencement of a new era in rail travel. Similar to the ‘Adarniya Shri Ram Vande Bharat’ train, this will also be a commendable initiative serving our people with speed, safety, and reliability.”
Alongside the launch of the Patliputra-Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express, PM Modi also inaugurated the Vaishali-Deoria railway line project, built at a cost exceeding Rs 400 crore. This line is expected to further enhance regional rail connectivity and foster economic development in the area.
This initiative aligns with the Central government’s overarching vision of modernizing Indian Railways through the deployment of semi-high-speed Vande Bharat trains, recognized for their advanced features and travel efficiency.
