Bhopal, Oct 28 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, remarked on Tuesday that while numerous countries have taken advantage of nature for personal gain, India has diligently cared for and safeguarded it for centuries.
During his address, the Chief Minister noted that a lifestyle driven by consumption exacerbates the current climate crisis, whereas Indian philosophy prioritizes preservation over use and fosters a balance between Yoga and Bhoga, embodying its true spirit.
The Chief Minister made these comments while speaking at a seminar held by the State Policy and Planning Commission, the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, and EPCO at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya in Bhopal.
The seminar aimed to discuss the role of states in combating climate change and to foster a supportive atmosphere for sustainable development through collaboration among individuals, communities, and governments.
The forthcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference is scheduled to take place in Brazil in November 2025 to tackle issues affecting water, forests, land, biodiversity, and human existence.
The insights and proposals from this seminar will be presented at the conference in Brazil. The Chief Minister stated that Madhya Pradesh is the first state in India to launch such discussions.
Under the theme ‘Living the Right Way’, the seminar emphasized strengthening the connection between the environment, lifestyle, climate, and sustainable development and the states' role in attaining the Sustainable Development Goals.
On environmental protection, Yadav expressed that conservation should be an essential aspect of everyday life.
"The state government is steadfastly working on enhancing green cover, conserving wetlands, revitalizing water sources, and endorsing eco-friendly industries," he mentioned.
Yadav asserted that the seminar is fundamentally linked to humanity's survival, the planet's balance, and the welfare of future generations.
He highlighted the importance of connecting local perspectives with global solutions and advancing while maintaining a balance between development and environmental preservation.
