Patna, Oct 24 (NationPress) During an election rally in Bihar on Friday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav took a swipe at Rastriya Janta Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Yadav for aligning with the Congress in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Mohan Yadav remarked that Lalu Yadav, who famously named his daughter Misa after being detained under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA), has now allied with the Congress, which he described as a sinking ship.
"I find it perplexing that the RJD leader chose to partner with Congress. What is even more astonishing is that he named his daughter Misa, a tribute to his arrest by Congress during the 1975 Emergency," Mohan Yadav stated while speaking at an election gathering in Saharsha, Bihar.
The Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA), enacted in 1971, was a contentious law that granted the government extensive powers to detain individuals without a warrant or trial indefinitely. From 1975 to 1977, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of Emergency, during which MISA was heavily utilized to suppress political opposition.
Lalu Yadav, who was then an adversary of the ruling regime, was arrested under MISA during this turbulent period and named his daughter Misa, born in 1976.
Misa Bharti, aged 49, is the eldest daughter of Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi and currently serves as a Member of Lok Sabha.
Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, recognized as one of the top 40 effective campaigners for the BJP in the Bihar Assembly elections, has been actively visiting the state and participating in public rallies.
On Friday, he addressed three consecutive rallies in Bihar, launching a fierce critique of both the RJD and Congress.
The BJP has mobilized a significant number of party workers and senior officials from the Madhya Pradesh unit to oversee election operations, with polling set for November 6 and 11.
Alongside CM Yadav, Union Minister Shivaraj Singh Chouhan and several senior leaders, including former state BJP President VD Sharma, former home minister Narottam Mishra, state BJP organizational general secretary Hitanand Sharma, cabinet minister for youth affairs Vishwas Sarang, and former minister for cooperatives Arvind Bhadoriya, have been tasked with managing the election.
Moreover, state BJP in-charge Mahendra Singh and regional organizational general secretary Ajay Jamwal have been assigned clusters of 20 to 25 assembly seats each.
