Bhopal, March 19 (NationPress) In a peculiar incident, a woman from Madhya Pradesh, who was believed to be deceased for the past eighteen months, has astonishingly resurfaced, leaving her family, neighbors, and notably the police from two districts — Mandsaur and Jhabua — completely astounded.

Her family had already conducted her last rites, and four individuals accused of her alleged murder remain imprisoned in Thandla, located 330 km from Bhopal in the Jhabua district.

The woman, who had been residing in Navali village, Mandsaur, made it challenging for her family to accept that she was alive. Her father quickly took her to the Gandhi Sagar police station in Mandsaur to report her return.

Confirming the incident, Taruna Bhardwaj, the officer in charge of the Gandhi Sagar police station, informed IANS that the woman disclosed that she had left with a man named Shahrukh from Bhanpura, Mandsaur.

“After two days, she stated she was ‘handed over’ to another individual coincidentally named Shahrukh in Kota. She had been living in Kota until she managed to escape and return home,” the police officer explained.

The woman presented identification documents, including her Aadhaar and voter ID cards, to verify her identity, as reported by the officer.

“We have transferred the matter to the Thandla police station in Jhabua, where her 'murder' was previously investigated,” the police officer mentioned.

This woman, a mother of two, was joyously reunited with her children after a year and a half, and she also visited the Thandla police station.

Her father, Ramesh, had identified a body in 2023 after viewing a video of a fatal truck accident.

The body displayed a tattoo of her name and a black thread around the leg, leading him to believe it was his daughter.

Her family performed the last rites, and four men were arrested for her supposed murder.

These men — Imran, Shahrukh, Sonu, and Ejaz — have been incarcerated since then.

The police returned the remains to the family, who conducted the last rites and traditional ceremonies.

“The woman originates from Navali village in Mandsaur; she came here with her family members and reported her return. The accused, currently in jail, have submitted a request in the local court based on her reappearance. If the court orders, the case may be reinvestigated. Higher authorities have been informed of this development,” a senior police officer from Thandla, Jhabua district, stated to IANS.

This intriguing case prompts numerous inquiries. Her narrative has also highlighted a potential human trafficking network, adding another intricate layer to this already unusual situation.
