Gondia, Sep 29 (NationPress) NCP working president Praful Patel stated on Monday that while the NDA and MahaYuti will join forces for the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections, local and civic elections stand apart, and party members are eager to participate in them.
The decision to either proceed independently or form alliances will be determined by local units, he noted.
“Party members are enthusiastic about contesting local elections. Although the NDA and MahaYuti have collaborated in Lok Sabha and assembly elections, forming alliances everywhere is not feasible. Thus, we have instructed local leadership to finalize the decisions regarding alliances in local body elections,” Patel mentioned during a press conference.
He emphasized that the aspirations of party members will shape the local election strategy.
Three parties from the ruling MahaYuti, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena, and the NCP, claim they will collaborate for the forthcoming local body elections. However, the NCP has clarified that the decision will not be imposed on party members from the top. Patel reaffirmed that all three parties in MahaYuti are cooperating effectively.
“Key leaders maintain excellent coordination and present a united front. As a result, whether at the state or central government level, our operations are seamless,” he stated.
Recently, the opposition Congress also declared that it would empower local leadership to decide whether to form alliances for the elections.
Regarding the ongoing flood crisis in Maharashtra, Patel highlighted that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde have visited the flood-affected regions, submitted reports to the Centre, and sought assistance.
Additionally, he noted that all NCP MLAs and MPs have donated one month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
