Maha Kumbh Represents India's Eternal Spiritual Legacy, Fostering Unity and Faith: PM Modi

New Delhi, Jan 13 (NationPress) As the Maha Kumbh festival kicked off on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked that this day holds great significance for countless individuals who uphold Bharatiya values and culture. He noted that the Maha Kumbh serves as a representation of India’s eternal spiritual legacy, celebrating both faith and unity.

On the occasion of Paush Purnima, PM Modi extended his greetings to the nation via social media platform X, wishing a delightful experience for all pilgrims and visitors in the Maha Kumbh region.

“With the holy dip on Paush Purnima, the Maha Kumbh has officially begun on the sacred land of Prayagraj today. On this auspicious occasion connected to our faith and culture, I offer my heartfelt salutations and greetings to all devotees. I hope this grand celebration of Indian spiritual traditions infuses new energy and enthusiasm into everyone’s lives,” he expressed.

The Prime Minister expressed joy at witnessing the bustling atmosphere in Prayagraj, filled with numerous individuals immersing themselves in the holy waters and seeking blessings.

“Today is a very special day for millions who appreciate Bharatiya values and culture!” he stated.

“Maha Kumbh 2025 has commenced in Prayagraj, uniting countless individuals in a sacred gathering of faith, devotion, and culture. The Maha Kumbh symbolizes India’s eternal spiritual heritage and celebrates faith and unity,” the PM added in his message.

Devotees partook in a holy dip at Triveni Sangam — the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati rivers in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj on Monday morning, as this day — Paush Purnima in the Hindu calendar — signifies the beginning of the 45-day Maha Kumbh festival.

A massive crowd of worshippers, many of whom traveled from across India and the globe, engaged in the sacred ritual known as Shahi Snan.

Anticipating attendance of at least 45 crore people, the Maha Kumbh festival from January 13 to February 26 aims to showcase India’s rich cultural heritage and spiritual customs.

Extensive security measures have been implemented by the Uttar Pradesh government to ensure the safety of attendees during the Maha Kumbh.

In a groundbreaking move, underwater drones capable of diving up to 100 meters have been deployed throughout the city for continuous monitoring in the Sangam region. Additionally, tethered drones that can ascend to 120 meters have been utilized to provide aerial views for identifying overcrowded areas or spots needing medical or security assistance. Over 2,700 cameras equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) technology will facilitate real-time surveillance and facial recognition at entry points.

Authorities have established 150,000 tents to accommodate pilgrims, alongside additional sanitation and toilet facilities. More than 450,000 new electricity connections have been set up, as the Kumbh is expected to consume more power than what 100,000 urban flats in the region use over a month.

Several electric buses are operational for devotees. The Indian Railways has introduced 98 special trains to conduct 3,300 trips during the festival.

For medical needs, temporary hospitals with surgical and diagnostic capabilities have been established.
