Chennai, Oct 12 (NationPress) The President of Tamil Nadu BJP, Nainar Nagendran, launched the party's major statewide initiative, dubbed "Tamil Nadu: Tamizharin Payanam (Tamil Nadu: The Journey of Tamils)", during a grand public gathering at the Ambika Theatre Junction in Anna Nagar, Madurai.
This event symbolized the official commencement of the BJP's campaign for the forthcoming 2026 state Assembly elections.
Numerous notable BJP figures were present, including Union Minister L. Murugan, former State BJP President K. Annamalai, along with senior AIADMK leaders and ex-Ministers R.P. Udayakumar and Sellur Raju, highlighting the deepening ties between the BJP and AIADMK.
A standout moment during the event was the unveiling of a new BJP campaign anthem, which incorporated powerful clips from addresses by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the late AIADMK leader and former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.
The anthem, which took a sharp jab at both the DMK and the Congress, was enthusiastically received by the crowd.
During the anthem, listeners were captivated by Jayalalithaa's resounding voice declaring: "Is there anywhere in the world a family where the father is the Chief Minister, the son is Deputy Chief Minister, another son is a Union Minister, yet another relative holds a Central party post, and the daughter is a Member of Parliament (referring to DMK) -- all grabbing power like fish devouring mud?" Her words prompted enthusiastic applause from AIADMK's R.P. Udayakumar, while party member Sellur Raju exchanged knowing smiles with the audience, highlighting the emotional bond between AIADMK and BJP.
Prior to the yatra's kickoff, Nagendran offered prayers at the Meenakshi Amman Temple.
In a media briefing, the State BJP President delivered a strong critique of the DMK government, claiming it has failed in governance and allowed lawlessness to rise in Tamil Nadu.
"The DMK government has failed to protect women and children. People are suffering. Even sanitation workers are punished for peaceful protests," Nagendran stated, adding that "the countdown has begun for the DMK regime".
Expressing confidence in the BJP-AIADMK alliance, Nagendran asserted, "The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will form the next government in Tamil Nadu, and Edappadi K. Palaniswami will take oath as the Chief Minister."
