Maharashtra: 12 Ministers Excluded from Former Shinde Cabinet; 25 Fresh Faces Join the Ranks

Nagpur, Dec 15 (NationPress) In a significant reshuffle, at least 12 Cabinet ministers from the prior Eknath Shinde-led government in Maharashtra have been excluded from the recent Cabinet expansion by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The ministers who did not secure their positions in the new cabinet include Sudhir Mungantiwar, Ravindra Chavan, Vijaykumar Gavit, and Suresh Khadse (BJP), as well as Chhagan Bhujbal, Dilip Walse Patil, Dharmaraobaba Atram, Anil Patil, and Sanjay Bansode (NCP), along with Tanaji Sawant, Abdul Sattar, and Deepak Kesarkar (Shiv Sena).

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis mentioned that each minister's performance would be evaluated, explaining that the BJP ministers who were excluded would undertake different roles.

“Some ministers were dropped because of their performance in the Eknath Shinde-led Cabinet. Regarding the inclusion of candidates from Shiv Sena and NCP, it was not feasible due to various factors. They might get a chance later. Nonetheless, one ministerial position has been left vacant,” he stated.

Notably, 25 new faces have been inducted into the Cabinet, including Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Ganesh Naik, Jaykumar Rawal, Pankaja Munde, Ashok Uike, Ashish Shelar, Dattatreya Bharne, Shivendraraje Bhosale, Manikrao Kokate, Jaykumar Gore, Narhari Jirwal, Sanjay Savkare, Sanjay Shirsat, Pratap Sarnaik, Bharat Gogavale, Makarand Patil, Nitesh Rane, Akash Fundkar, Babasaheb Patil, Prakash Abitkar, Madhuri Misal, Ashish Jaiswal, Pankaj Bhoyar, Meghna Bordikar, and Indranil Naik.

Among the 39 ministers who took their oaths, four women legislators were included: Pankaja Munde, who served as the minister of woman and child welfare in the Devendra Fadnavis-led government from 2014 to 2019, along with Madhuri Misal and Meghana Bordikar (BJP) and Aditi Tatkare (NCP), who played a key role in implementing the prominent Ladki Bahin Yojana ahead of the state assembly elections.

However, none of the women legislators from Shiv Sena have been included in today's expansion.

Moreover, the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP have established a two-and-a-half-year framework for the ministers inducted into today’s council.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar stated that the MahaYuti partners have consented to this arrangement to allow for the induction of new faces after two and a half years in the Cabinet.
