Mumbai, Sep 30 (NationPress) The Maharashtra Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has on Tuesday sanctioned the formation of MahaGeotech Corporation to facilitate a comprehensive and strategic advancement of the state's development through the integration of modern science and technology.

The new corporation will be incorporated under the Companies Act and will include the establishment of 106 roles, such as Director General, Director, and Deputy Director.

This initiative is an addition to the already operational Maharashtra Remote Sensing Application Centre (MRAC).

According to the government’s announcement, geospatial technology is being adopted globally, significantly assisting the administration in planning and making informed decisions.

The Maharashtra Remote Sensing Application Centre, which was founded in 1988, has been pivotal in various projects including the Geographic Information System (GIS) based Road Information System, Urban Planning Regional Plan, Jalyukta Shivar and Watershed Development Scheme, Hill Development Scheme, e-Panchama, Mahaangri Tech, Kandalvan Study Groundwater Management, and Minerals and Mines Study.

The establishment of the MahaGeotech Corporation is expected to enhance the existing systems and equip MRAC to tackle future challenges and rapid technological advancements.

A space of approximately 5,000 square feet will be allocated for the headquarters of the corporation at GST Bhavan, Wadala, Mumbai, along with a provision for temporary rented accommodation in South Mumbai until the new space is constructed.

The project has been allocated Rs 25 crore for its operational costs.
