Shimla, Oct 10 (NationPress) The police in Himachal Pradesh apprehended a man on Friday, facing allegations of committing sexual assault against a 25-year-old woman within his ayurvedic clinic in Solan town, under the guise of providing treatment.
The victim claimed that during her consultation, the accused, Ram Kumar, took her hand and inquired about her sexual health.
Upon sharing her concerns, he promised her a complete recovery while presenting her with a medical book.
According to Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh, the woman lodged a complaint at the women’s police station on October 8.
She had visited the clinic, situated near the old bus stand, on October 7.
However, Kumar allegedly insisted on examining her private parts, a request she firmly declined.
Despite her objections, Kumar is reported to have sexually assaulted her under the pretense of a medical examination.
The Superintendent of Police noted that a team from the state Forensic Science Laboratory examined the crime scene and gathered evidence.
"In light of the victim's testimony, forensic evidence, and technical findings, the police arrested Ram Kumar," he stated.
In her complaint, the victim mentioned that she had been suffering from an illness for an extended period.
On October 7, she sought treatment at the clinic.
After requesting her address, Kumar asked her to sit for an examination.
The woman recounted that the doctor held her hand and began to press her veins.
He then started questioning her about her sexual issues.
Following that, Kumar assured her of a complete cure and also displayed a related medical book.
Expressing disbelief at the incident, the brother of the accused called the allegations against his elder brother deeply disturbing for the family.
He emphasized that his 80-year-old brother, who has grandchildren, is a respected practitioner of ayurvedic medicine in the state.
Labeling the incident as a conspiracy, he urged the police to reflect on whether an octogenarian could be capable of such an act.
