In response to the situation, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla convened a review meeting on Covid-19 at the Raj Bhavan on Monday. The meeting included Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh, senior medical officials from the state Health Department, and other relevant authorities. The review was prompted by recent guidance from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) concerning enhanced readiness amidst growing concerns about a potential resurgence of Covid-19.
Officials at the Raj Bhavan reported that health officials briefed the Governor regarding the state's preparedness, which encompasses diagnostics, protective gear, oxygen supply, ICU and isolation facilities, essential medications, and the IDSP–IHIP portal. They also discussed challenges tied to testing capabilities, medical supplies, and hospital preparedness.
The Governor emphasized the necessity of proactive strategies, sufficient medical infrastructure, and community awareness to guarantee that the state is well-equipped to manage any potential increase in Covid-19 cases.
