Patna, April 2 (NationPress) The chief of Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), Jitan Ram Manjhi, criticized RJD president Lalu Prasad on Wednesday, asserting that he supported the Waqf (Amendment) Bill in 2010 but is now against it.

Manjhi released a clip of Lalu Prasad's address in Parliament from 2010, where the RJD leader called for stricter regulations for Waqf properties.

In the footage, Lalu stated: “All lands have been usurped, whether government or non-government. People have sold off valuable land, including Patna's Dak Bungalow Chowk. These lands are urban areas in Patna, which have been converted into apartments.”

While sharing Lalu's video, Manjhi remarked on X, “Some individuals are opposing the Waqf Amendment Bill simply because it is introduced by Narendra Modi's government.”

Manjhi added: “In 2010, Lalu Yadav himself advocated for strict regulations regarding Waqf. I urge the leaders of the INDI alliance to heed Lalu Yadav and support the bill in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.”

He stated, “The Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 will undermine the objectives of political parties inciting Muslims. Once it is approved, every Muslim will say, 'With Modi, everything is possible. Thank you, Narendra Modi! Every section of the nation stands with you.”

Previously, Lalu and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav expressed strong opposition to the bill. The RJD is mobilizing support from other INDIA bloc parties to resist it in Parliament.

On March 26, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board organized a significant protest at Patna Gardanibagh, where Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi participated despite health issues.

The debate surrounding the Waqf (Amendment) Bill is escalating, with both parties leveraging history and politics to defend their positions. This matter holds particular significance in the lead-up to the Bihar Assembly election 2025.
