Haridwar, July 27 (NationPress) - On Sunday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid a visit to the District Hospital in Haridwar to meet with individuals affected by the stampede that took place earlier in the day at the Mansa Devi Temple.
Additionally, he proceeded to AIIMS Rishikesh to check on those who sustained severe injuries.
Throughout his visit, the Chief Minister instructed hospital management to provide the utmost medical assistance to all those injured.
Addressing the media, CM Dhami stated, "The incident occurred around 9 a.m. today. Initial reports indicate that a rumor regarding an electric current incited panic among the worshippers. A magisterial inquiry has been initiated. The injured are currently receiving medical care, and some have been transferred to AIIMS Rishikesh. Our main focus is ensuring their swift recovery."
The Chief Minister confirmed that six individuals lost their lives in the stampede and announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
"We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the departed. Our thoughts are with them during this challenging time," he added.
