New Delhi, July 28 (NationPress) Devotees from all corners of the nation flocked to Lord Shiva temples with profound devotion and zeal during the third Sawan Somwar, engaging in Jalabhishek and prayers.
From Kashi Vishwanath in Varanasi to Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain, the temples were packed with devotees seeking blessings. The atmosphere was charged with spiritual energy as people came to offer their prayers.
At the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, the inner sanctum was beautifully decorated with vibrant flowers. A magnificent Mangla Aarti took place early in the morning, drawing thousands of devotees eager to witness the divine splendor of Baba Vishwanath after performing the sacred water offering.
Varanasi District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar and Kashi Vishwanath Temple CEO Vishwa Bhushan Mishra were seen showering flowers on the long lines of Kanwariyas awaiting their turn for darshan.
“The third Monday of Sawan saw a notable increase in the number of devotees,” noted Mishra.
“Since Sawan starts 15 days later in South India, today marked the first Monday for many South Indian devotees. Anticipating the surge, we had made arrangements including barricades, German hangars, medical assistance, and distribution of ORS and glucose.”
ACP Ishan Soni confirmed that elevated security measures, including drone surveillance, were implemented.
“We collaborated with local markets and service providers to ensure everything ran smoothly,” he remarked.
A devotee commented, “We have been here since morning. The crowd is overwhelming, but the spiritual ambiance and the vision of Baba Vishwanath are truly divine.”
A priest at the temple emphasized the site's religious significance, stating, “There are two revered Shivlings here – Dashashwamedh Mahadev and Brahmeshwar Mahadev. Kanwariyas first offered water to Mahadev before proceeding to Baba Vishwanath.”
Similar scenes unfolded at the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, where thousands gathered for Bhasma Aarti and Jalabhishek. The temple resonated with devotional chants and the sound of bells.
In Prayagraj, crowds congregated at Triveni Sangam, taking holy dips before praying at nearby Shiva temples.
Teerth Purohit Gopal Das noted, “After bathing at the Sangam, devotees are blessed through their offerings to Lord Shiva.”
In Mubarakpur, devotees started arriving at the local Shiva temple from early morning, while in Ayodhya, SP Chakrapani Tripathi reported, “Since 3 a.m., devotees have been performing Jalabhishek at Kshireshwar Nath and Nageshwar Nath temples with sacred Saryu water. All arrangements are in place.”
