New Delhi, Sep 7 (NationPress) The leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati, convened an essential review meeting at the BSP headquarters in Lucknow on Sunday. The primary focus was on enhancing the party's presence at the grassroots level while gearing up for a significant statewide event on October 9 to commemorate the death anniversary of Kanshi Ram, the founder of BSP.
During the gathering, Mayawati expressed her approval of the progress in establishing party committees at various levels, revealing that nearly 80 percent of the target has been met. She instructed party members to finalize the remaining tasks following the event on October 9.
The official statement from the BSP UP State Office highlighted that “almost 80 percent of the target for committee formation from the district to booth levels has been accomplished. Instructions have been given to complete the outstanding work post the statewide event on October 9, honoring the legacy of Kanshi Ram Ji.
The press release further noted, “This year’s tribute to Kanshi Ram Ji will take place at the expansive ‘Manyawar Shri Kanshi Ram Ji Smarak Sthal’ located on VIP Road, Lucknow, where BSP Chief Ms. Mayawati will lead the memorial ceremony and outline the strategy for the upcoming political landscape.”
Mayawati emphasized that this occasion would also act as a platform to “discuss the strategy for forthcoming political challenges.”
The BSP leader raised concerns regarding the ongoing efforts to “disrespect religious sites, saints, gurus, and prominent social reformers” throughout states. She called upon the government to enforce strict legal measures against such actions and to “reinforce the rule of law so that all individuals can coexist peacefully and earn their livelihoods.”
“In UP and various other states, efforts are underway to undermine religious sites, saints, gurus, and key social reformers, disrupting social, communal, and political harmony. All governments must renounce narrow-minded, casteist, and communal political strategies and take decisive legal action against such offenders to ensure law and order,” the release stated.
On the economic front, Mayawati cautioned about the repercussions of the recent 50 percent “Trump Tariff” imposed by the United States, asserting that India and the ruling BJP must “implement concrete and reformative policies with the public and national interest in mind” to safeguard the poor from further hardships and uphold India's dignity on the global stage.
The meeting saw participation from senior BSP officials from across Uttar Pradesh, who presented their respective progress reports. The event on October 9 will mark the first substantial statewide program following the party's recent restructuring at both national and state levels, with thousands of members expected to join.
