Bhopal, Aug 13 (NationPress) Although the Madhya Pradesh government has not released any official announcement regarding a ban on meat sales for the upcoming Independence Day and Krishna Janmashtami festivities, numerous civic authorities across the nation have implemented such restrictions. This decision has been positively received by leaders of the ruling BJP.
BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma, representing Bhopal's Huzur constituency, expressed that the actions taken by civic bodies in regions like Hyderabad and Kalyan in Maharashtra should be acknowledged instead of being politicized.
“August 15 signifies a day of demonstrating India’s unity, not a platform for political disputes. What’s inappropriate about pausing meat sales for two or three days?” Sharma remarked to IANS on Wednesday.
In response to criticism from AIMIM leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who labeled the ban as “heartless and unconstitutional,” Sharma accused him of inciting discord.
“Owaisi is one of those politicians who mislead the Muslim community for their own political advantage. Despite being a politician, he is also a seasoned advocate. He should comprehend the importance of Independence Day,” Sharma stated.

“What we choose to eat on Independence Day is our right and freedom. They have no authority to dictate our meals. Even during Navratri, our prasad includes prawns and fish as part of our tradition -- this reflects our Hindutva. Why intrude into people’s homes? The corporation should prioritize fixing potholes,” Thackeray said.
