This initiative was developed through a collaboration between Sesame Workshop and the state government, reported officials.

During the launch, Chief Minister Sangma extended his congratulations and emphasized the significant research undertaken over the past 18 months to create ECD content specifically designed for the region. He stated, “Understanding local challenges while integrating local culture, knowledge, and existing systems is essential for children, teachers, and parents to connect with the program.”

He elaborated that a customized curriculum suited for Meghalaya will enhance the effectiveness of the ECD initiative that the government is pursuing.

The Chief Minister noted that a considerable amount of care and consideration has been devoted to planning the ECD Mission. He indicated that the next vital phase is implementation and recommended involving established institutional frameworks to realize the broader objectives of the ECD.

“This program has attracted considerable attention not only within our nation but across the South East Asian region, presenting an opportunity for transformative change, valuable learning experiences, and a model for others to emulate,” he remarked.

CM Sangma also highlighted the importance of cultivating a child's analytical and cognitive abilities during the ECD phase while also instilling values such as cleanliness, respect for the environment, patriotism, and responsible citizenship.

“Incorporating activities that promote values and principles should be integral to the curriculum,” he stated.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister discussed various state government programs that have evolved from a focus on schemes to a more individualized approach aimed at benefiting specific individuals.
