New Delhi, Nov 9 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Dehradun this Sunday to engage in a significant event commemorating the 25th anniversary of Uttarakhand's formation.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at approximately 12:30 p.m.. During his visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the groundwork for several development initiatives valued at over Rs 8,140 crore.
As part of the festivities, Prime Minister Modi will unveil a special commemorative postal stamp to honor the occasion and will address the attendees.
Among the projects being inaugurated are initiatives worth over Rs 930 crore, along with foundational stones for projects totaling Rs 7,210 crore. These initiatives span critical sectors such as drinking water, irrigation, technical education, energy, urban development, sports, and skill enhancement.
The Prime Minister will also announce a financial aid package of Rs 62 crore for more than 28,000 farmers, which will be directly deposited into their bank accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
Highlighted projects include the Dehradun Water Supply Coverage Project for 23 zones under the AMRUT scheme, an electrical substation in Pithoragarh district, solar power installations on government buildings, and the AstroTurf Hockey Ground at Haldwani Stadium in Nainital.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones for two major hydro projects: the Song Dam Drinking Water Project, which will provide 150 million litres per day of drinking water to Dehradun, and the Jamarani Dam Multipurpose Project in Nainital, intended for drinking water supply, irrigation support, and electricity generation.
Other foundational projects include electrical substations, the establishment of a Women’s Sports College in Champawat, and a modern dairy plant in Nainital.
Uttarakhand was formed on November 9, 2000, as the 27th state of India, carved out from the northern region of Uttar Pradesh. Initially named Uttaranchal, the state officially adopted the title Uttarakhand in January 2007.
