New Delhi, Nov 8 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Dehradun this Sunday to participate in the Silver Jubilee festivities of Uttarakhand, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for a range of development initiatives valued at over Rs 8,140 crore.
On the social media platform X, PM Modi expressed, "We are fully committed to developing and enriching Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. On November 9, I will take part in the silver jubilee celebrations marking the formation of our state."
The Prime Minister will be present in Dehradun around 12:30 p.m. to inaugurate and lay the groundwork for projects across various sectors, including education, irrigation, and sports, during this significant occasion. He will also unveil a commemorative postage stamp.
The projects set to be inaugurated touch key areas such as drinking water, irrigation, technical education, energy, urban development, sports, and skill enhancement.
During this event, PM Modi will oversee the inauguration and foundation laying of development initiatives exceeding Rs 8,140 crore, comprising projects worth more than Rs 930 crore and foundation stones for projects surpassing Rs 7,210 crore.
Additionally, he will disburse Rs 62 crore to over 28,000 farmers directly into their bank accounts under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana.
The inaugurated projects include water supply coverage for 23 zones in Dehradun under the AMRUT scheme, an electrical substation in Pithoragarh, solar power plants in government buildings, and an AstroTurf Hockey Ground at the Haldwani Stadium in Nainital, among others.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation for two significant hydro-sector projects: the Song Dam Drinking Water Project, which will supply 150 MLD (million liters per day) of drinking water to Dehradun, and the Jamarani Dam Multipurpose Project in Nainital, which will facilitate drinking water supply, irrigation, and electricity generation.
Additional foundation stones will be laid for electrical substations, a women’s sports college in Champawat, and a modern dairy plant in Nainital.
Earlier, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami provided an overview of the event's preparations, stating, "We are commemorating the 25th anniversary of Uttarakhand's formation. Today, we honor the sacrifices and commitment of those who fought tirelessly to make Uttarakhand a reality."
He mentioned that the citizens are eagerly anticipating PM Modi's visit, remarking, "There is significant enthusiasm among the public to welcome him as many development projects have been undertaken in the state under his vision."
