Chennai, May 5 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, on Monday awarded royalties to five distinguished Tamil scholars whose literary contributions have been recognised and nationalised by the state government.
The ceremony was part of the closing event of ‘Tamil Week’, hosted at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai, to celebrate the birth anniversary of the renowned Tamil poet, ‘Pavendhar’ Bharathidasan.
The distinguished scholars whose works were nationalised include the late ‘Kavikko’ S. Abdul Rahman, the late Merwin, the late A. Palani, and the poets Ku. Ma. Kothandam and Ilama Tamilnavan.
The Chief Minister presented cheques worth Rs 10 lakh each. Family members of Abdul Rahman, Merwin, and Palani received the royalties on behalf of the deceased, while Kothandam and Ilama Tamilnavan collected theirs personally.
