Bhopal, June 16 (NationPress) Congress leader Pradeep Ahirwar filed a police report on Monday, claiming that he was assaulted by a group of unknown assailants in Vidisha, located approximately 60 km from Bhopal.
Ahirwar, who oversees the Schedule Caste (SC) department for the Madhya Pradesh Congress, stated that a mob vandalized his vehicle using sticks and swords; fortunately, he managed to remain unharmed during the ordeal.
As per Ahirwar, the incident transpired around 11 AM on Monday while he and his aides were en route to a Congress event in Gyaraspur village in Vidisha.
"I was driving from Ganj Basoda to Gyaraspur village. At around 11 AM, upon reaching Thaila village, I was confronted by approximately 50 individuals brandishing sticks and swords, demanding that I exit my vehicle. I managed to escape unharmed by staying inside my car," he recounted.
Ahirwar reported that the assailants damaged his car with swords and sticks, but he successfully fled the scene. He drove to the Ganj Basoda police station in Vidisha district to file a formal complaint, claiming it was a premeditated attack against him.
In a video captured outside the Ganj Basoda police station, Ahirwar displayed the damage to the rear windshield and the right-side windows of his car.
"The attackers numbered around 50, most equipped with sticks and swords. Had I stepped out of my car, they could have killed me," he added.
Ahirwar has urged the Vidisha district police to investigate the incident.
"I call on the Vidisha district police to uncover who attempted to take my life today, or I will begin a protest at the police station," he stated in his video message.
He also appealed to state Congress leaders for support, saying, "I am tirelessly working for the party. I urge senior Congress leaders to ensure my safety. I am genuinely fearful for my life," concluded Ahirwar.
