Bhopal, Nov 25 (NationPress) The President of the Madhya Pradesh Congress, Jitu Patwari, made a visit to AIIMS Bhopal on Wednesday to check on a six-year-old girl who was a victim of rape in the Sehore district.

During his visit, Patwari spoke to the media about his meeting with the young survivor, who is currently under the care of a dedicated medical team. He expressed relief at her rapid recovery and also took the time to meet her family members who were present at the hospital.

“I met the rape victim, and she is recovering swiftly. Her family is understandably distressed and is seeking justice for their innocent child,” he stated.

In a concerning revelation, a Congress spokesperson highlighted that an alarming average of 20 rape cases are reported daily in Madhya Pradesh, labeling it a disgrace for the state.

“This is not merely a political matter; the Congress party stands ready to collaborate with the government to ensure law and order and to safeguard the rights of girls and women in our state,” he added.

Addressing the recent transfer of Sehore SP Vivek Pandey and the suspension of two police officers in Gauharganj, where the crime transpired, Patwari remarked that merely removing police officials will not serve justice for the victim.

“If changing the SP could alleviate the girl's suffering, then the entire police force would need to be overhauled. I urge the Chief Minister to implement stringent measures, as incidents of violence against young girls are becoming commonplace in Madhya Pradesh,” he emphasized.

In a noteworthy development, Chief Minister Yadav conducted a high-level meeting with DGP Kailash Makwana and other senior officers at the Police Headquarters on Tuesday evening, expressing his dissatisfaction with the delay in apprehending the perpetrator.

The Chief Minister has ordered the transfer of SP Vivek Kumar Pandey due to his failure to capture the 23-year-old suspect, identified as Salman.

The incident occurred on November 21 within the jurisdiction of the Gauharganj police station in Sehore. Reports indicate that the accused lured the young girl, who was playing outside her home, to a nearby forest under the pretext of giving her chocolate, before assaulting her.

The survivor was discovered in a distressed state in the forest and is currently receiving treatment at AIIMS Bhopal.

Public outrage has manifested in a four-day protest outside the Gauharganj police station, with community members, including women and girls, participating in a continuous sit-in despite harsh weather conditions.

This protest followed a violent demonstration that resulted in a significant highway blockade. Police initially employed mild force (lathi-charge) to disperse the crowd, but demonstrators returned in numbers, leading to the deployment of personnel from five police stations.

In an effort to accelerate the investigation, authorities have raised the reward for information leading to the arrest of the accused to Rs 30,000. Currently, twenty police teams and around 300 officers have been mobilized throughout the area as part of a heightened search initiative.
