Bhopal, Jan 30 (NationPress) The vehicle of Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari was struck by a truck from behind near a toll plaza in Sehore on Thursday. Patwari, who was present in the car during the incident, emerged unscathed.
All passengers in the vehicle were unharmed, as confirmed by the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) to IANS.
The mishap occurred while Patwari was traveling from Indore to Bhopal in his Fortuner SUV. Upon reaching the Fanda toll plaza situated between Sehore and Bhopal, a truck collided with the rear of his car, inflicting damage. Nevertheless, Patwari, seated in the front, did not sustain any injuries, nor did his driver.
“Earlier today, while en route from Indore to Bhopal, my car was hit from behind by a truck near Sehore, resulting in an accident. Thankfully, we are all safe, and there were no casualties. I appreciate everyone's good wishes and prayers! May love and blessings continue to surround you,” Patwari expressed in a social media post.
Following the incident, the state Congress unit voiced concerns regarding the safety of Jitu Patwari and called on the state government to ensure he receives adequate protection.
The collision transpired in the jurisdiction of the Khajuri police station, with police promptly arriving at the scene to investigate.
Afterward, upon arriving at the Congress headquarters in Bhopal, Patwari updated the media regarding the OBC reservation debate. He stated that the Kamal Nath-led Congress government had instituted a 27 percent reservation for OBC individuals, which the BJP has consistently opposed in court.
This statement followed the Madhya Pradesh High Court's dismissal of one petition challenging the 27 percent OBC reservation. The court noted that it was the circular being disputed, not the Act itself. However, the bench has upheld the stay on the 27 percent reservation established in 2020. Reacting to the High Court’s ruling, former MP CM Kamal Nath remarked, “This is a triumph for the Congress party’s principles. In March 2019, during my administration as Chief Minister, I granted 27 percent reservation to the OBC community in Madhya Pradesh.”
