Hisar/Yamunanagar, April 14 (NationPress) On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a jab at the Congress party, accusing it of appeasement politics. He challenged them to appoint a Muslim party president and criticized their opposition to the amended Waqf Act, asserting that the new provisions honor the sanctity of Waqf and protect the rights of the underprivileged.
“If the party genuinely cared for the Muslim community, they would have designated a Muslim as their party president or allocated 50 percent of their tickets to Muslim candidates,” PM Modi stated during a public gathering in Hisar city, suggesting that their motives were never aligned with the true welfare of Muslims, thus revealing their actual intentions.
He pointed out that extensive land designated for Waqf, intended to benefit the poor, vulnerable women and children, has been misused by a few land mafias. According to PM Modi, these mafias have encroached upon lands belonging to Dalits, backward classes, and tribals, leaving the Pasmanda Muslim community without any advantages.
PM Modi mentioned that the amendments to the Waqf Act will eradicate such exploitation, highlighting a crucial new addition in the amended law that ensures tribal lands remain untouched by Waqf boards.
He considered this a significant milestone in safeguarding tribal interests.
The new provisions will respect the sanctity of Waqf, guaranteeing the rights of impoverished and Pasmanda Muslim families, women, and children, he declared during his public address after inaugurating the first commercial flight from Hisar to Ayodhya and laying the foundation stone for terminal-2 at the Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar, which is slated for completion within two years.
The airport terminal will be constructed at an estimated cost exceeding Rs 410 crore and is part of PM Modi’s vision to render air travel safer, more affordable, and accessible to everyone.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, along with several state ministers, graced the event.
During his second consecutive rally after laying the foundation stone of the 800 MW thermal power plant unit and compressed biogas plant in Yamunanagar, PM Modi remarked, “There is a stark difference between states governed by the BJP and those by Congress. In Karnataka, the Congress government has levied multiple taxes on the populace, escalating their financial burden. Even their own ministers have admitted that Congress has made Karnataka the top state in corruption.”
In Telangana, he noted that Congress has already started to forget the pledges made to the public. “Their actions, such as bulldozing forest land and harming the environment, illustrate a complete disregard for nature.”
Haryana currently generates 16,000 MW of electricity, with expectations to rise to 24,000 MW. “On one side, we are investing in thermal power plants, and on the other, we are enabling people to become power generators themselves,” PM Modi stated.
“Through the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, households can reduce their electricity bills to zero by installing solar panels. They can even sell surplus electricity back to the grid. Thus far, over 1.25 crore households have enrolled in this scheme,” he added.
Paying tribute to Babasaheb B.R. Ambedkar and recalling his guiding principles, PM Modi stated that Ambedkar believed the development of industries “is a path to social justice.” He asserted that since Dalits lack sufficient land, they would reap benefits from industrial progress.
PM Modi noted, “Babasaheb also collaborated closely with India’s first Industry Minister, Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, in this regard. Even Chaudhary Sir Chhotu Ram said that when farmers earn additional income via small industries, it leads to prosperity in villages. Likewise, Chaudhary Charan Singh, who dedicated his life to the upliftment of villages and farmers, believed that industrial advancement and agriculture must complement each other.”
PM Modi mentioned that the BJP government in Haryana now procures 24 crops at minimum support price (MSP). “Farmers have significantly benefited from the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, with claims amounting to over Rs 9,000 crore already disbursed under this scheme. Under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, more than Rs 6,500 crore has been directly transferred to farmers' accounts in Haryana,” he concluded.
