Jammu, June 6 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has denounced Pakistan as the adversary of brotherhood, 'Insaniyat (humanity), and Kashmiriyat, asserting that the recent attack in Pahalgam was designed to provoke communal unrest in India.

During his visit to Jammu on Friday, he inaugurated multiple projects, including two advanced bridges and the Vande Bharat train. His address in Katra commenced with a reverent tribute to Mata Vaishno Devi in the Dogri language.

“This is the land of Vir Zorawar Singh, and I pay homage to his bravery. Today’s event is a grand celebration of India’s development journey. The railway network has connected the Kashmir Valley. The slogan of Kashmir to Kanyakumari has now become a reality. Our policy aims to maximize benefits for the new middle class, which has emerged as a result of the hard work of the underprivileged who have risen above the poverty line,” he stated.

In his critique of Pakistan, PM Modi remarked that tourism fosters employment and unity among people; however, “our neighboring nation stands against humanity, brotherhood, tourism, and the impoverished.”

“The events in Pahalgam stem from this mindset. Pakistan has attacked Insaniyat and Kashmiriyat in Pahalgam. Their intent was to instigate communal violence in India, depriving impoverished Kashmiris of their livelihoods. The unfortunate death of a poor pony owner, who was supporting his family, is a testament to their conspiracy. The people of Kashmir have risen against this plot from Pakistan, sending a powerful message against terrorism,” he stated.

“Just a month ago, we dismantled the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, penetrating deep into their territory to eradicate the roots of terrorism. The Pakistan Army could never have anticipated our reach. When they hear of Operation Sindoor in the future, they will remember their defeat. In retaliation, Pakistan resorted to shelling civilians in Poonch and Jammu, destroying homes, mosques, churches, and Gurudwaras,” he added.

During his address, PM Modi announced that government jobs would be provided to the families of those affected by the Pakistani shelling. “Around 2,000 families were victims of this assault, and we are increasing financial assistance for the affected families. Damaged homes will receive Rs two lakh, while partially damaged ones will be granted Rs one lakh,” he declared.

He emphasized that the government regards residents near the border as the nation’s soldiers, committing to construct 10,000 new bunkers for their protection against Pakistani shelling.

PM Modi further stated that India aims to become a leading defense exporter, which will also boost employment. “We should favor purchasing domestically manufactured goods. We must support our soldiers on the borders and promote 'Made in India' in the markets,” he urged.

He noted the extensive destruction that Jammu and Kashmir has experienced, leading residents to abandon their aspirations. “They had resigned themselves to terrorism as their fate. We have liberated J&K from this turmoil. The youth here are now dreaming anew and transforming those dreams into reality. This sentiment was palpable during the recent Mata Kheer Bhawani festival. The Shri Amarnath Yatra is set to commence on July 3, and Eid celebrations are approaching. We will not allow the progress of J&K to falter due to the Pahalgam attack,” he assured.

“I, Narendra Modi, promise you that development will persist without interruption. All obstacles will confront Modi first,” he asserted.

Referring to the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, PM Modi stated that it symbolizes India’s excellence. “Today, I inaugurated the Chenab and Anji bridges and laid the foundation for projects worth Rs 46,000 crore. These initiatives will accelerate J&K’s progress. I congratulate all of you on this new journey toward development,” he remarked.

“Centuries have passed in the pursuit of this dream. Omar Abdullah mentioned he was in the 8th grade when this project was proposed, and today, the dreams of millions in J&K have come to fruition. It is fate that has entrusted me with the responsibility of realizing these monumental projects,” PM Modi shared with the audience.

He acknowledged that the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily slowed progress, but they remained resolute. “We faced various challenges, including adverse weather and landslides, but our government is determined to tackle these obstacles,” he explained.

A few months ago, the Sonamarg tunnel was inaugurated. “While traversing the Chenab and Anji bridges, I have personally witnessed the determination and expertise of our engineers. The Chenab Bridge is the world’s highest railway arch bridge. Just as people travel to see the Eiffel Tower in Paris, they will soon visit Kashmir to admire this bridge, which will become a significant tourist attraction. The Anji Bridge is India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge. These structures are not merely concrete and steel; they represent India’s advancement, courage, determination, and integrity,” he stated.

“Both the Chenab and Anji bridges will enhance tourism and bolster J&K’s economy. They will also support the industrial sector. Kashmiri apples will reach markets across the country promptly and at lower costs. This railway line will facilitate travel for people to the rest of India. I came across comments from a villager residing along this railway track, who remarked that only those who left the village had seen a train, but not others. A daughter informed me that the weather will no longer dictate whether the road is accessible,” he shared.

“J&K is the crown of India, and your history, traditions, natural beauty, herbal remedies, fruits, and the talents of your youth shine like jewels in this crown. I have visited J&K for decades and have felt the emotions of its people. I am committed to the development of J&K. This region is destined to become part of the knowledge hub that the nation is evolving into. IIM, AIIMS, NEET centers, and a central university are being established here. Two state-level cancer institutes are also being set up. Over the past five years, seven medical colleges have been inaugurated, and MBBS seats have increased from 500 to 1,300,” he noted.

He announced that Reasi would also receive a medical college—the Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence. Contributions from individuals across the country funded the establishment of this medical college. The indoor capacity of the Katra hospital has been expanded from 300 to 500 beds,” PM Modi mentioned.

“In the eleven years of the BJP-NDA government, four crore houses were constructed for the poor; the Ujjala scheme has freed 10 crore households from smoke; 50 crore underprivileged individuals benefited from the Ayushman health scheme; banking services were extended to 2.5 crore people, and 12 crore toilets were built. Through the Jal Jeevan Mission, safe drinking water has been provided to 12 crore individuals. The PM Kisan Yojana has offered direct financial support to 10 crore farmers. In these eleven years, 25 crore underprivileged individuals have overcome poverty and joined the new middle class,” the PM stated.

He challenged those who engage in politics surrounding social justice and caste. “They must reflect on who has gained from our eleven years in power. These are my Dalit, Adivasi, and forest-dwelling communities who have benefitted,” he remarked.

PM Modi also unveiled a postal stamp commemorating the Indian Railways' achievement in constructing the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge, alongside the Anji Bridge, the country’s first cable-stayed railway bridge.

He laid the foundation for the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence, Katra, the Rafiabad-Kupwara-Tangdhar-Chamkot Road (Package I), and the Shopian Bypass on NH-444.

He remotely inaugurated MORTH projects, including the Sangrama Chowk flyover and the Bemina Junction flyover.

J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, MoS (PMO) Dr. Jitendra Singh, leader of the opposition in the J&K Assembly Sunil Sharma, and deputy CM Surinder Choudhary were present alongside the PM during his address to a large public gathering at Katra stadium.
