New Delhi, Aug 15 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the national flag and spoke to the nation from the historic Red Fort in the capital.
He remarked that this significant festival of freedom represents the resolutions of 1.4 billion people.
“This freedom celebration is a moment of pride reflecting our collective accomplishments. Every heart brims with excitement. The nation is consistently reinforcing the spirit of unity,” he stated during his eagerly anticipated address.
He recalled that in 1947, fueled by endless possibilities and the strength of countless individuals, our nation achieved independence.
“The dreams of the nation began to soar, yet the challenges we faced were monumental. Adhering to the principles of the esteemed Bapu, the members of the Constituent Assembly undertook a crucial duty. For the last 75 years, the Constitution of India has served as our beacon,” PM Modi expressed.
“On this grand occasion of independence, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the citizens of our country, the admirers of India worldwide, and our allies,” he added.
“Today, we commemorate the 125th anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the first notable individual to sacrifice for the Constitution of India. Our decision to revoke Article 370 was a true homage to him, fulfilling the vision of 'One Nation, One Constitution,'” PM Modi commented.
Earlier, upon his arrival at the Red Fort to lead the 79th Independence Day celebration, two Mi-17 helicopters from the Indian Air Force flew over the fort, showering flower petals.
One helicopter carried the Tiranga, while the other showcased a banner for Operation Sindoor. The highlight of the ceremony was Operation Sindoor, which represents India’s strongest retaliatory measure against Pakistan-backed terrorist bases.
Before reaching the Red Fort, PM Modi paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
This year's celebration theme is 'Naya Bharat,' which serves as a platform to honor the ongoing ascent of a prosperous, secure, and confident New India, as stated by the government.
