Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre – Viveka Smaraka at the Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama in Mysuru, Karnataka, on Saturday, 2 August 2025. The centre is designed to serve as a hub for youth empowerment through value-based education, leadership development, and the promotion of a spirit of nation-building rooted in the teachings of Swami Vivekananda.

Purpose and Vision Behind Viveka Smaraka

The Viveka Smaraka has been developed to commemorate Swami Vivekananda's historic visit to Mysuru in November 1892 during his pan-India journey. The facility aims to carry forward his message of character building, knowledge, service, and youth leadership by creating structured opportunities for learning, reflection, and personal growth.

Swami Tyagishwarananda, Secretary of Ramakrishna Ashrama, Davanagere, outlined the centre's core mission ahead of the inauguration. 'That is the main objective of the Viveka Smaraka — to educate and inspire the youth. Everything we do is guided by our core principles and our motto. Today's young generation is the future of India, and our role is to motivate and guide them,' he said.

He further elaborated on the philosophical foundation of the initiative: 'Our aim is to remove ignorance through the ideal of Atmano Mokshartham Jagat Hitaya Cha, to seek one's own spiritual growth while working for the welfare of the world.'

What the Centre Offers

The Viveka Smaraka has been designed as a comprehensive facility encompassing spaces for educational activities, leadership programmes, and community-oriented initiatives. It is intended to encourage young people to contribute meaningfully to society and to the broader project of nation-building. Swami Tyagishwarananda on Modi's Role

Commenting on Prime Minister Modi's involvement, Swami Tyagishwarananda said: 'It is certainly empowering, without any doubt. Looking at the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of this country, we can see that he has focussed on strengthening the fundamentals, improving education, expanding access to learning, promoting India's culture and reinforcing the country's Sanatan Dharma heritage. Security Arrangements in Mysuru

Ahead of the Prime Minister's arrival, security has been significantly tightened across Mysuru. Police have deployed additional personnel along key routes, including Narayana Shastri Road, and barricades have been erected around the Viveka Smaraka premises. Authorities are maintaining high alert along the designated route, and public vehicles have been restricted from operating on it from noon onwards as part of the security protocol.
