Bhopal, Feb 11 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, extended its heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the BJP's triumph in the Delhi Assembly elections.
During a press briefing, Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya acknowledged the support from the citizens of the national capital for the BJP in this electoral battle.
"The BJP has regained its foothold in the national capital after 27 years, a feat made possible by Prime Minister Modi's leadership and his developmental vision. The MP cabinet expresses its gratitude to PM Modi and the people of Delhi for this remarkable victory," Minister Vijayvargiya remarked.
In this election, the BJP defeated the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which was led by Arvind Kejriwal, winning 48 out of 70 seats in the capital.
Several key AAP figures, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, faced electoral defeat.
The AAP managed to secure only 22 seats, while the Congress, which sought a comeback in the capital, failed to win any seats.
This marks the third consecutive election in which the Congress, which previously governed Delhi for 15 years, has ended with no seats.
The BJP's vote share was recorded at 45.56 percent, while the AAP followed closely with 43.57 percent and the Congress at 6.34 percent.
In the previous 2020 Delhi Assembly polls, the AAP had a vote share of 53.57 percent, winning 62 seats. Conversely, despite a 38.51 percent vote share, the BJP only managed to secure eight seats out of 70.
In the 1993 Assembly elections, the BJP had won 49 seats, while the Congress and Janata Dal secured 14 and four seats respectively.
