The Chief Minister indicated that the government of Madhya Pradesh has been in consistent communication with the Meghalaya authorities and has pledged full cooperation.
Efforts are actively underway to ensure the safe return of Sonam Raghuvanshi, the wife of the deceased, Raja Raghuvanshi, who was discovered dead just days ago, the Chief Minister affirmed.
“I have engaged in discussions with the Chief Minister of Meghalaya. Senior police officials from Madhya Pradesh are in ongoing contact with their counterparts in Meghalaya. I have requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to order a CBI investigation into this incident,” the Chief Minister posted on X.
This statement followed a plea from Sonam Raghuvanshi's family, who called upon the Union government to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) due to dissatisfaction with the ongoing investigation by Meghalaya Police.
The newlywed couple, Raja Raghuvanshi (29) and his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi (25), had traveled to Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district for their honeymoon, but disappeared under suspicious circumstances.
Raja Raghuvanshi's body was located in a ravine near a waterfall in the Sohra region, approximately 20 km from their homestay, on June 2.
This tragic incident has not only devastated the family but also raised concerns regarding the investigation and the ongoing search for his wife, as Meghalaya Police have yet to discover any leads regarding her location.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari visited Raja Raghuvanshi's home in Indore on Saturday to express his condolences and has called for an immediate CBI inquiry.
